Kelly challenged the bloggers in the family to write about our favorite things. I've been considering it ever since. There is great difficulty in choosing favorites when all things are considered. So, leaving out my precious family, with all its extensions, and friends, here are a few of my favorite things:
Home. I have always loved home. While houses are merely places made of wood, metal, stone, paper and various plastics and fabrics -- home is made of loving moments and fond memories. Creating the place for our family to grow, learn , rest, pray, work and play has been the great joy and passion of my life.
Color. The values and variations of color can make such a difference in surroundings. As I age and the eyes have dimmed a bit, I have become very fond of yellow. And though I would choose green if pressed for a favorite, because of my love of plants and growth, yellow brings light and warmth anywhere it resides.
Creativity. Although God is the great creator, I delight in using his raw materials to create beauty in health, home and garden. This can be as simple as a pleasant table setting, a scoop of coconut oil on the skin, or a tidy closet; or as complex as rearing and educating a child, or planning a landscape...I love being involved in the process of creating beauty.
The Precious People in our Lives. Even though at the outset of this post, I said these favorites were obvious and not to be included... without the people in our lives, the other things mentioned would be empty and meaningless. They (you) are my most important and most favorite. I thank God for you.
Bedtime. At the end of the day, there is rest for me and the love of my life on our soft memory foam mattress topper, with a good book in our hands and our radio playing soft jazz and romantic vocals. For this I am thankful, and this is where I am going next.

I think listing our most favorite things is an important exercise that we should all undertake. Every time that I do this, I am amazed at how good God is :-)
