Once upon a time there lived four little girls who grew to be charming and beautiful women; girls who loved each other as friends, but closer; young women, who loved as sisters, but dearer. Each looked out for the other, and so did the men they chose as friends and husbands. Oh, they were loveliness! They were fun and they were brave; they were godly, but real. They were honorable, honest, good and kind. They were my own flesh, but different. They were my daughters. And how I loved them.
